helloooo!! bonjour blog and here is me forcing myself to write. i’ve recently read 5 books over the past 2 weeks so detailed book reviews and more writing pieces coming soon but for now this is another visual mixtape. this time with more writing in some captions instead of just the citations. will be showing some of my recent favorite art, poetry (mary oliver!!!!!!!) , film stills as usual, and some recent style icons.
the reasoning for another visual mixtape is i am too lazy to go in depth on a writing piece at the moment so enjoy! love you all! (figure of speech i do not love the anonymous internet audience)

Greener Grass (2019) dir. Jocelyn Deboer & Dawn Luebbe
one of the best films i’ve seen in a while. please go watch as i’ve been fixated on how smart and surreal this movie is. similar to as if wes anderson did crack or something. this does an incredible job at being a comedy (beck bennett really shines in this) but if you peel the layers back a bit it really transforms into beautifully done social commentary.

Kiko Mizuhara for her show キコキカル
kiko is a style icon. nobody’s doing it like her.

Elle Fanning style inspo

Mullholland Drive (2001) dir David Lynch
i recently watched this for the first time!!!! def did not grasp the concept at first but upon reading up on it and sitting with it, i am bewildered by the execution of this concept. i understand why people say they can’t explain the plot of this movie, because this discombobulated and woven narrative certainly is the greatest puzzle presented through cinema.

Françoise Hardy in the 60s
the ultimate 60s french pop girlie!

Poems from Mary Oliver’s Dream Work

Annette (2021) dir. Leos Caroux
i dragged my friends to go see this with me and jesus christ was it a time. this was one of the wackiest movies to come out in a while. adam driver’s manic performance paired with Caroux’s surrealism tied into this overall bizzare but wonderful plot was truly a cinematic depiction of overstimulation. i need to go see this again before it closes in theaters. please go watch it these stills here really don’t do the film justice as it just came out so there are limited stills available to showcase.

Amy Winehouse various performances
to close out this visual mixtape is the beautiful legendary style icon and songstress miss amy winehouse.
xoxoxo emi
